What We Do

Assistance

We also understand that individuals in poverty face a number of challenges beyond just their lack of skills and education. That's why we offer assistance with child care, transportation, and business apparel. These services help to remove some of the barriers that individuals face when trying to secure employment and build successful careers.

One of our key programs is to provide low income Arizona families with immediate basic needs, to allow them the time and resources to become certified tax and finance professionals. We understand that many individuals in poverty lack the skills and education needed to secure high-paying jobs. This program provides the financial assistance to enabling them.

Almost half of all college students and much higher proportions of poor and minority students drop out before they complete a degree. Community colleges, the sector that enrolls the majority of less advantaged and older students, have experienced staggering dropout rates. About 54% of their students don’t complete a degree, receive a certificate.

The reasons for lack of completion are many, including rising tuition costs that have only partially been offset by increased government aid and are especially burdensome for the least well off. The demands of work and family that may make full-time attendance difficult or impossible.
